Tailgate Party Ideas: Easy Tailgate Dip Recipes

By

Eat Dip and Be Merry!

Everyone who has ever attended a tailgate party knows the very best part of tailgating is the food.

A tailgate party is one of the best excuses to eat some food that is the absolute worst for you. So dig in!

Mmm, Mmm, Mmm

Along with hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, ribs and any kind of meat you can imagine, no tailgate menu is complete without a good selection of tailgate dips to choose from.

Dips are perfect for tailgating, or a Super Bowl party, because they don't take long to make, they are easy to transport and they add a little variety to the typical foods associated with tailgating.

If you are looking for an easy dip to make for the next time you are tailgating or attending a Super Bowl party, give one of these delicious dips a try:

Kansas City Sausage Dip

I'm not sure why it is called "Kansas City," but any tailgate dip that has meat as it's primary ingredient is a dip I can really sink my teeth into.

Ingredients:
2 (8-oz.) Packages of Cream Cheese
1/2 LB. Pork Sausage
1 Can Diced Tomatoes & Green Chiles
1/2 Cup of Hot Sauce

Directions:

For The Stove:

Brown pork in a skillet on medium heat
Drain sausage grease
Mix in diced tomatoes and green chiles
Stir in cream cheese and hot sauce
Cook until ingredients are heated through (15-20 minutes)
Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes

For The Microwave:

Brown pork in a skillet on medium heat
Drain sausage grease
Pour all the ingredients into a microwave-safe bowl
Set microwave on HIGH for 5 minutes
Stir ingredients together
Cook an additional 2 minutes on HIGH
Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes

If you prefer, you could bake the ingredients together letting the sausage grease pool into the dip. Not the healthiest alternative, but hey, it's a tailgate dip for a tailgate party.

"Healthy" should not be a top priority for any tailgate food item, especially at the sacrifice of taste.

Serve with pretzels, crackers, tortilla chips or celery.

French Onion Dip

Simple? Check. Quick? Check. Delicious? Absolutely!

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Mayonnaise
2 Cups Sour Cream
1 PKG. French Onion Soup Mix

Directions:

If you are really pressed for time, or simply can't think of a more exotic dip, French Onion dip is a timeless, tasty and easy to make:

Stir all ingredients in a serving bowl
Refrigerate until ready to serve

Serve with celery or potato chips.

7 Layer Dip (Taco Dip)

Add a little Mexican flair to your tailgate Fiesta with 7 Layer Dip.

Ingredients:
1 Can (16-oz.) Refried Beans
1 Container (8-oz.) Sour Cream
1/4 Cup Taco Sauce
1/4 Cup Green Onions
1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 Cup Chopped Tomatoes
1 Container (6-oz.) Gaucamole
2 TBSP. Black Olives

Directions:

Making 7 Layer Dip couldn't be easier as it doesn't require the need for a stovetop, oven or microwave. However, each step should be followed in sequence to make the best possible dip (in my opinion, but variations are certainly possible):

Stir together refried beans and taco sauce
Spread on serving tray
Spread sour cream over the surface
Spread guacamole over the surface
Spread cheddar cheese
Spread green onions
Spread black olives
Spread tomatoes
Let chill for 2 to 24 hours

7 Layer Dip can be served cold or at room temperature. If you were in a real rush you could even bring all the ingredients to your tailgate party and make it on the spot. Whatever works for you!

Serve with tortilla chips or crackers.

Beer Cheese Dip

If the kitchen is the way to a man's heart, Beer Cheese Dip is like the super shortcut. Trust me. Everyone will love it.

Ingredients:
1 LB. Processed Cheese (cut into cubes)
1/2 Cup of Regular or Non-Alcoholic Beer
1/4 TSP. Hot Sauce

Directions:

Making Beer Cheese Dip really couldn't be easier and it combines the three essentials to tailgating: Beer, Cheese and Dip

For The Slow Cooker:

Pour in all ingredients
Drink rest of beer
Cook on HIGH until cheese melts (30 minutes)
Stir ingredients
Serve in slow cooker on LOW setting

Beer Cheese Dip can be prepared prior to the tailgate party using a stovetop or microwave and served cold, if you wish, but I prefer it hot or at least lukewarm.

Serve with bread, crackers or pretzels

Buffalo Chicken Dip

That's right. Another meat inspired dip to be served along side your main meat dishes. Bon Appetit, which means "Damn! That's good dip," in tailgate talk.

Ingredients:
2 Cans Chicken Breast in Water
1 Container (8-oz.) Cream Cheese
1/2 Cup Blue Cheese Dressing
2 Cups Shredded Cheese (Cheddar)
1/2 Cup Hot Sauce

Directions:

Buffalo Chicken Dip is probably the only tailgate dip on this list that tastes the best when baked in the oven.

For The Oven:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Place cream cheese into dish
Place dish in oven
Pour in blue cheese
Pour in hot sauce
Pour in shredded cheese
Pour in chicken
Stir ingredients
Let cook for 30 to 40 minutes
Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes

For Slow Cooker:
Pour ingredients into slow cooker
Cook on HIGH setting until hot (bubbling)
Periodically stir ingredients
Add extra cheese if necessary
Serve from slow cooker on LOW

Buffalo Chicken Dip is perfect for tailgating as it combines spice, meat and cheese.

It is especially nice if you didn't have time to prepare actual buffalo wings for your party but still want some of the same great flavor.

Serve with crackers or celery.
